MAXIMUM RIDE— The Angel Experiment

Plot: Six kids—Angel, the Gasman, Nudge, Iggy, Fang and Max, whose full name is Maximum Ride—ranging from the ages of six to fourteen live alone, after they escaped from "the School", which is revealed to be a laboratory where scientists experiment on human kids. The story starts up when the youngest, Angel, is kidnapped by "Erasers" (werewolf-like beings created by the School to basically attack the gang) and Max and her group (of which she is the leader by default, being the oldest) have to go rescue her.

SPOILERS! Along the way, Max meets a human girl and her mother, whom she lives with for a while because her wing is injured. They learn about Max's wings and accept her for who she is, making Max not want to leave them.

They also learn things about the school and themselves, like that they are not, as they previously believed, test-tube babies, but had real parents, all of whom they learn things about, except for Max's, whom they find no records of. Also, Max has a kiss scene with Fang, the second oldest (wow, shocker).

Fav. Character: Nudge, the crazy cool eleven-year-old girl who talks faster than anyone else you can think of.

Crazy Plot Twist: Ari + Max = siblings. I mean, what the hey?

Fav. Scene: The scene where they see all the mutant creatures at the Institute.

MWM: Kiss scene with Fang and Max—I mean, gee, who'da thunk it? Although I do like that he's younger.

Recommendation: I think Maya would like this book. Also Malik, even though the main character is a girl. Basically anyone who likes fast-paced action adventure stories with lots of sequels.
